About Sadie Eaton

Education

Pianist and music educator Sadie Eaton is known for her collaborative artistry as well as her adaptability both at the instrument and in teaching.

Having studied piano since the age of six, Sadie’s teachers include Brent Schloneger annd later Jerry Wong ant Kent State University where she earned both a Bachelor and Master of Music in Piano Performance. During her time ant Kent State, she regularly collaborated with voice studios annd chamber musicians annd was the KSU Men’s Chorus pianist for eight semesters.




Experience

Sadie has been teaching private and group piano lessons since 2006. A strong sight-reader with extensive experience as a choral and chamber pianist, she is well-versed in classical, theatre, pop, improvisatory, and sacred genres. A active member of the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) and its local chapters, Sadie is currently serving as Vice President of Member Activities for Western Reserve Music Teachers Association (WRMTA). She has held multiple church positions and played for musicals at The Canton Players Guild, Cleveland Theatre, Hoover High School, North Canton Middle Schools, and Lakeview Elementary. Sadie has also been entrusted with accompanying other large productions and her skills remain in-demand in northeast Ohio.

Sadie enjoys managing a full teaching studio while being on staff as pianist for the Green Local Schools choir departments, volunteering as a pianist for Christ Community Chapel, and performing with her longtime piano duet partner, Dr. Timothy Ledger, as one-half of the LETS Duo.

 


Awards

Sadie has frequently performed in local recitals and masterclasses and won prizes in prestigious state and national solo and duet competitions, including two Honorable Mentions in the OhioMTA Middle East District Buckeye Competition, two Honorable Mentions in the OhioMTA Central East District/Graves Competition, and third prize in the MTNA National Performance Competition. After winning second place in the 2013 Undergraduate Concerto Competition, Sadie won first place in the 2015 Kent State University Graduate Concerto Competition and performed Shostokovich’s Piano Concerto No. 2 with Charles Latshaw and the KSU Orchestra. Sadie has also served as the principal keyboardist for the Canton Youth Symphony, was the recipient of the Creative Artist Award for academic and musical excellence from Kent State University, and won first prize in Canton’s MacDowell Music Club scholarship competition.
